Classic Sugar Cookie

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 egg
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar

Mix powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, almond extract and egg.  Stir in remaining ingredients.  Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.

Oven 375 degrees

Lightly grease cookie sheet.  Roll out into 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes.
Bake 7-8 minutes or until edges are slightly brown.  Cool on rack. Decorate with icing and sugar sprinkles.

Icing:
Start with a cup of powered sugar, a little vanilla or almond extract (maybe 1/2 teaspoon)  Incorporated milk one tablespoon at a time until desired thickness. Make more icing as needed.

Always a classic cookie and very hard to resist.  :)
