3 to 3 1/4 cups all purpose flour (bread flour works great)
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 package regular or quick acting dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
1 cup warm water
2 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 egg
1 large egg (1 yolk and 2 tablespoons water) optional to brush on top before putting in oven for browning. Alternative is brushing loaf with butter when it comes out of the oven. (I usually do this :)
Add yeast with 105-110 degrees water. Add sugar and salt. Set until bubbly. (10-15 minutes) Add beaten egg and remaining ingredients.
Dough hook for mixing works well with this recipe. Either knead for 10 minutes or dough hook for 5. Rise 1 hour, place in greased pan, rise again till indentation remains when touched. Or just gauge it. :)

I used this recipe for the New Years 2017 pretzel! Sesame and flax seeds on top after brushing with egg yolk. ~ Carol ~
