Pizza Dough
This is one of the best recipes for pizza dough. And I have tried many over the years! It makes enough for 2 large pizzas. Or a bunch of personal pan pizzas. :)
The pizza pictured above has homemade tomato sauce, white cheddar & pepperjack cheese, red peppers, sundried tomatoes, and chicken on one half for the meat eaters. :)
Thanks Kelly for finding this recipe!
3 1/2 - 4 cups flour
1 teaspoon sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons of yeast or 1 envelope yeast
1 - 2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 cups water, 110 degrees
2 tablespoons olive oil
Add sugar, yeast, water, salt, oil and let sit till bubbly. About 15 minutes. Add flour. Use a whisk or mixer for first 2 cups. Add remaining flour gradually and knead until dough forms a round ball. Do not make it dry. It should be a soft warm ball of dough, not sticky.
Put a little oil at the bottom of a bowl, put dough in, then flip the dough over so the oil side of dough is facing you. Cover and let sit for an hour or till doubled.
Punch dough down, divide in half and spread the dough on a pizza pan that has been sprayed with Pam and sprinkled with cornmeal. Let dough sit for about ten minutes or so. Put toppings on and bake at 450 for 10-20 minutes or so until the desired crispness is there.
Enjoy!
Carol
